CASE I used in this case a curved tube, which was suggested by my colleague, Mr. Meredith, in order to have the opening higher up in the incision, and further from the pubes. This was also an unusually difficult case of double ovaiiotomy, and I was obliged to leave a certain amount of venous oozing deep in the pelvis, so I put in a : J.

Knowsley Thornton. Of the former he had had twenty-five successful cases with an average stay in hospital after operation of 26'3 days, and of the latter successful cases with an average stay of 20'5 days.

In twenty-five non-antiseptic cases the ice-water cap was used seventeen times, or in 68 per cent. ; in antiseptic it was used thirty-one times, or And ovariotomy has been performed with success in hundreds of such cases.

Ovariotomy is therefore the sole and the scientific remedy in such cases. It has, moreover, been shown that there are cases even of monocystic tumors also, which, after the ineffectual use of other curative methods, can be cured only by ovariotomy.

Ovariotomy should never be performed so long as the tumor does not create disturbances which make it necessary.
